Overview
If your horse has hollows on either side of his withers where the front part of the saddle tree goes, and your saddle falls down in front, you could use some Skito shims in the front of your pad to fill in that spot and even out the pressure along the spine once again.
If your horse has a bridging problem, you can use center shims to fill in the hollow in his back to even out the pressure along the back once again.
Sometimes a horse is down in the loin area. This is not as common, but we also have back shims available for Skito Saddle Pads.
The best way to see what is going on with saddle fit is to put your saddle on without any pad. Find out where the gaps are. The Skito shims are made to fill in these gaps and even out pressure once again. When you do this, take note of how deep the gaps are, as the shims come in different thicknesses.
These memory foam pieces are made specifically for each design of Skito Saddle Pad. If you do not have a saddle pad that we sell here at PFL Inc., you can find the Pad # by looking inside the pad on the fabric. The # is written with permanent marker there. It is also written on the little tag that sticks up on the outside of the pad near the back. If you still cannot figure it out, send a picture or tell us what sort of saddle the pad was made to match. We can help you figure it out.
If you are ordering shims for a pad other than what we sell here, pick the option "My Currant Pad" and put the # in the information box at the end of the order while paying. You can also email the # or call me. Gail-208-437-0416
The pictures show the shims laying atop the saddle blanket in the position they would fit inside.
